The Truth about the 12 Days of Christmas
Starting on or around December 14th, you may have received a series of 12 emails from business and merchants promoting their “12 Days of Christmas” specials and discounts.
Did you receive anything like that? I know I did!
I’ve often wondered about the song about the 12 days of Christmas and assumed, like many people, that it was a countdown that began mid-December and ran up until Christmas day.
Guess what? It’s actually a countdown from the day AFTER Christmas until the Feast of the Epiphany on January 6th.
Wanna see for yourself? Check it out at Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Twelve_Days_of_Christmas_(song)
So what’s my point? Well, I wanted to something different. I thought about offering you some gifts during this time, but I didn’t want to start offering you stuff the day after Christmas. It was still the weekend and many of us (including myself) were still enjoying the company of family and friends.
With that said – today is the 3rd day of Christmas. The day for Three French Hens.
Using the PNC Christmas Price Index (http://www.pncchristmaspriceindex.com) I found some information about today’s celebration…
* Crèvecoeur, Houdan and the La Flèche were three common varieties of chickens from France when the song originated.
* The speckled Houdan variety is named for a market town near Paris.
* The 2009 price for each hen is $15 or $45 for three hens.
That means…today’s gift is $45 off the price of our Social Media Marketing Success workshop that’s being held on January 11th 2010 in Austin, Texas!
